I wrote this song when I learned that two sailors from the U. S. Navy jumped ship during the Viet Nam War and came home, refusing to serve any more in that awful war. My dream, of course, was that ALL of the sailors would follow suit and give it up. Not long after, the war ended.

This is a lament for all the people I’ve lost. Turn the volume down. It’s a lament.
